The things you actually need for baby (& you!)

Monday, September 17, 2018

Until about a month ago I thought I was totally ready to bring this little baby in to the world. I had her changing table, her crib, the rocker I plan on sitting in to feed her. I had all the clothes I could imagine and the nursery was decorated.

It wasn't until my gf's came in town and started looking through the stuff I had, that I quickly realized how much I didn't have to bring a human home. Plus I didn't realize there are certain things I needed for myself. I thought I had that part all figured out. Welp, turns out, mama needed some things just as much as baby.

I cannot be the only mama out there who has no clue what she'd need. This is the list, most of which you can get on Amazon, that'll make your life and babys life easier.

For Baby:
  1. Nose Frida
  2. Diapers in size newborn, one and two
  3. Wipes
  4. Aquaphor
  5. Rectal Thermometer (for under 6 mo) and forehead thermometer (for over 6 mo)
  6. 5 ounce and 9 ounce bottles + different nipple sizes - I LOVE the comotomo bottles.
  7. Saline nose spray
  8. Grooming Kit
  9. Boon Bottle Drying Rack
  10. Bottle brush
  11. Butt Paste (small one for diaper bag and big one for changing table)
  12. Infant tylenol
  13. Shampoo, conditioner, baby lotion
  14. A bunch of plain onesies: I love these little Gerber ones
  15. Travel Bottle Cleaner
  16. Pacificer
For Mama:
  1. Pumping storage bags
  2. Pump sterilizing bags
  3. Baby carrier, my Solly baby is my fav.
  4. Nipple pads that freeze
  5. Disposable and Non-disposable breast pads
  6. Lansinoh Nipple Cream
  7. Cozy undies, bras, jammies and robe.
  8. Hand sanitizer
  9. Dishwasher cage (to wash all those small parts!)
Happy Shopping mamas!

Happy Friday! Lots of new stuff going on over here :) If you're new, head to Instagram to see what's been keeping me busy the last few days! It's been the best week of our lives and we're so excited for this new venture.

But before we get to a baby post (hopefully coming next week if I can get it together), let's talk all things Fab Fit Fun.

If you haven't heard about the Fab Fit Fun box you are missing out. It's a box with tons of goodies in it that comes every quarter. My favorite part about this box, you get real sizes (no samples), the products are amazing, you can semi-personalize your box and since it only comes once a quarter, you're getting a box full of products, not just a bunch of small stuff.

Today on Insta-stories, I walked you through all the products, but I thought you might want a little more in-depth details. Let's do this.

First, here are all the amazing products I got in my Fall Fab Fit Fun Box.

Happy Happy Monday friends! How was your weekend? Spoiler alert - we did not have a baby this weekend. But we watched college and NFL football (Go Broncos!), we slept in and I ate pancakes two days in a row. I'd call that a great weekend. But ya know what? I'm ready to stop thinking of every weekend as our last weekend to do something and instead our first weekend to do something with baby girl.

Sooo, if little miss baby girl would show up, it would make this week even sweeter.

Anyways, if you know me, you know I'm super sentimental about kind of random things.
  • I love the letter K, it started because of my first name and now because of my last name.
  • I love things that represent Arizona, cacti, mountains, sunsets, anything with Arizona printed on it.
  • I love a good quote, especially OTH.
  • The TV show Friends is my comfort show and makes me feel closer to my gfs.
  • I still have my baby blanket  - does this make me too sentimental?
Anyways, you get the point. I love things that carry happy memories surrounding my friends and my family. So, when Mapiful reached out to me to design my own map of a special place, I knew what that special place was right away, Lone Tree, Colorado. The sweet little town we call home. The sweet little place we'll bring our daughter home too, watch her grow up and grow our family. Adam and I haven't lived here long, but already this town has had such a huge impact on our lives.

There were a lot of options to pick from and that's the cool part. You can pick a place anywhere in the world and then design the map the way you want it. Did you study abroad in Paris? Done. Are you from a small town in Nebraska? They got it. Love San Diego? This is your map. I love the sentiment of picking of place special to you.
So what is Mapiful? The world is at your fingertips with Mapiful. They provide you with the tools to let you choose from any place in the world and design your own unique map poster. Explore, zoom, customize and order. Voilà, your place of birth, favorite neighborhood or just your happy place framed on your wall, in your home.
Head over to the website and start designing your special place and while you're at it, tell me what place you picked and why. I love hearing peoples special places and stories.

Happy Monday sweet friends, lets make this a great week.

Review + Giveaway: Trust Beauty

Friday, September 7, 2018

Happy Friday! We made it through the week, hallelujah!

I've been pretty vocal about that fact that pregnancy hasn't done my skin a ton of favors. Let's be blunt, pregnancy has killed my skin. The "glow" I got was mid-summer sweat and I found myself breaking out more than I anticipated.

At the very beginning of my pregnancy. I turned to my BFF to help me with some tips. I got a new cleanser, day cream and started using Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Within days. I saw a change, but I knew I needed a little more help.

I needed a little bit more targeted help. Overall, I was seeing a change in my skin, but knew I needed to jump in a little more.

I met Tom, the owner of Trust Beauty and was amazed by his product. I started religiously using the night cream and the enzyme mask and I swear by the results. My face is so much clearer and I finally have that pregnancy glow. I've been using the Commit Night Cream and the Honor Enzyme Mask for the last 2 weeks and absolutely love it.

The one thing I really love about the products, they smell amazing. They are not harsh, so I never felt a reaction or any sort of burning sensation. This says a lot because being pregnant my skin is so sensitive. I love that their products are natural and don't use any super harsh chemicals. This was huge for me when picking out pregnancy skin care products. I didn't want to use retinoids or chemicals (which when researching products is hard to find ones without!).

Here's what Trust Beauty says about the Commit Night Cream
  • Repairs and nourishes skin overnight
  • Delivers adaptogens deep into the skin
  • Enhanced anti-aging benefits
  • Keeps skin moist and dewy all night
  • Safe for all skin types, including sensitive, and acne prone skin
  • With Vitamin A and Panax Ginseng
  • Made in USA, Vegan, 100% Cruelty-Free
Here's what Trust Beauty says about the Honor Enzyme Mask
  • Infuses moisture and hydration
  • Fruit enzymes digest dead, dull dry cells.
  • May be used before makeup to enhance application
  • Safe for all skin types
  • With pumpkin and pineapple
  • Made in USA, Vegan, 100% Cruelty-Free
And because I love all of you, Tom, the owner of Trust Beauty has graciously given me one of each product to giveaway to you! Hooray. You can enter either here or via Instagram!

Good luck! Winners will be announced next Tuesday!

Hi Friends, happy Wednesday! How was your labor day weekend? Did you do anything fun? We kept it super low key. Dinners out, went to a few favorite breweries, slept in late and got all that last minute stuff prepped.

This outfit gets me SO excited for fall!

I really do love Sundays.

Almost as much as I love Chick-Fil-A

Recipe: Paleo Banana Bread

Tuesday, September 4, 2018

How was your labor day everyone? Is it just me or does labor day kind of bum you out? It's like the official closing of summer! Granted its going to be hot here for another month or so, labor day always acts as the bookend of a great summer.

This summer was on for the record books. We celebrated baby girl, twice. I celebrated one of my best gf's baby. We traveled to Omaha, Arizona, Steamboat Springs, Vail, and Breckenridge. We had visitors, date nights and we set up the nursery. We binged watched Ozarks and Yellowstone and spent time together just us two.

It was a great summer, but I'm so excited for what fall has in store for us. Getting into the spirit of fall to me screams banana bread. Is there anything better than a brisk fall day and the smell of fresh banana bread wafting through the house? I think not.

This is my mama's recipe, with the flour subbed to make it paleo. You're gonna love it.

  • 4 bananas, mashed
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 4 tablespoons oil (coconut, vegetable, ghee)
  • 1/2 cup almond flour (regular flour)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • pinch of sea salt
How to Make:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Combine bananas, eggs, nut butter and oil.
  3. Once mixed, add in almond flour, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, vanilla and sea salt. Mix.
  4. Grease a loaf pan and pour your mixture in.
  5. Bake for 55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cool, eat!
Happy Tuesday friends. Here's hoping your week back after a long week goes quick!
