This is post number 600. Can you believe it? This blog has now been going since August 2008, and this is the 600th post. I've been waiting to create a 600th post because I wanted it to be something that meant something. I wanted it to be something that people read and we're inspired by, words that changed people, words that meant something. But, I went back to my first blog, the reason for this blog, and I realized that this blog started for me. So I decided I was going to write this blog for me. So, this blog is about the people, in my life, who inspire this blog, who inspire me, and who mean the world to me. [This is dedicated to the one(s) I love.]
This is dedicated to my all over-extended-non-traditional family. Living in Scottsdale, Arizona, Omaha, Nebraska, Malibu, California, Boston, Massachusetts, & Florence, Italy, I've learned the real definition of a family. It's the people in your life, who regardless of blood line are your everything. It's not necessarily those to whom you are blood-related. It's the ones who make you feel comfortable and loved regardless of where you are. In Arizona, my family is obviously my beautiful and wonderful mom, dad, erin & tom. But not only that. It's Coti and Whitney (even though she's in Utah), it's the entire Urtubey family who will soon be my [non-blood legal] family. It's Brooke&Kelcy who I worked with at Oregano's who still amaze me. In Georiga, it's Lauren. In California, it's Callie, Kate&Kate, in Colorado, its Car-bomb. In Omaha, it's Kristin, Lyndsey, Britt, Alyssa & Adam (& his fam). I've been more than blessed to have extended family all over. They are the ones who will be forever joined with me. They are the ones I turn too when I really need help, someone to listen, someone to care. These are the people that will forever be in my heart. They are the ones I laugh with till I cry, the ones I drink copious amounts of wine with. These people (above) have the hearts of angels, and will always be my guardian angels. They have forever changed me, and molded me into who I am today. Without these people I wouldn't be who, where or what I am today. I am everybit of who they all are. They have made me courageous, strong-willed & motivated. They have shown me what true love means; that regardless of mistakes & faults, that their love will never falter. They have never given up on me, and I know they never will. These people are the greatest people you will ever have the privilege of knowing.
Family is God's daily gift to us, and the easiest thing to do is take that for granted. But one thing I will work daily at, is making sure I never take them for granted. So, this is to my 'family,' thank you for being exactly who you are. Thank you for being in my life, I only hope I can be as much as a blessing to you, as you are to me.
While I'm far away from you,

While I'm far away from you,
I know it's hard for you
Because it's hard for me
And the darkest hour is just before dawn---
"Life" can never be exactly like we want it to be.
I could be satisfied knowing you love me.
But there's one thing I want you to do especially for me---
And it's something that everybody needs.
While I'm far away from you
Whisper a little prayer for me,
Because it's hard for me,
And the darkest hour is just before dawn.
Each night before you go to bed,
Whisper a little prayer for me,
And tell all the stars above---
This is dedicated to the one I love.
Because it's hard for me

What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories. ~George Eliot
Another great week, even better pictures. It was so fun to get dressed up with everyone I love and eat, drink and dance the night away... with a thousand pictures documenting the evening. Enjoy :)
Cheers to a great night.

I've never appreciated Spring Break more than being in law school. It is seriously the best break from school, but this time I got to spend it with my law school girlfriends in Arizona and then with my boyfriend in Chicago :) I'll let the photos do the talking. Happy Spring-breaking everyone!
Enjoying the warm sun.

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half and hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." -Lewis Carroll
Sorry for the lack of posting (cough cough Britt and mom)... but it's been quite a couple weeks. Christmas was incredible. The thing I love most about christmas is the ability to spend copious amounts of time with family, doing absolutely nothing and it's completely acceptable. Christmas day was filled with champagne, food, great music, lots of people and an incredible amounts of photos. Not only is December 25th Christmas day, but it's also my mother's birthday, so it involves an off-key version of 'Happy Birthday' and some sort of birthday cake and candles. Needless to say, Christmas was a great day. A couple days after Adam (my boyfriend) came to visit and the whirlwind began. Multiple dinners with the family, suns games, golf games with dad, going away parties and lots of quality time, coupled with a few episodes of Deadliest Catch... it was one of the best weeks. It's been such a blessing being able to spend christmas break with everyone I care about. Adam's week in Arizona ended with a bang; a fancy New Years Eve Party, a mid-night kiss and some fancy attire. We toasted to 2010; saying goodbye to all the good and bad... all the while we cheersed to 2011 and the endless possibilities that come with a new year and a new decade.
The last night of finals!

My loves.
So here it is, January 5th, 2011. The old saying "The world is my oyster" has never felt so relevant. Second semester of law school and the possibilities are endless. I can honestly say I am looking forward to 2011 with my whole heart. 2010 was a good year, it was full of adventures, challenges, hopes and dreams, but I'm ready for a new year. I'm ready for fresh starts, new firsts and many more memories. Happy New Year's everyone. See ya later 2010, what's up 2011, lets see what you're made of.
“I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you’ll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you’ll make something that didn’t exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind.”
-Neil Gaiman

What is a friend?
I will tell you... it is someone with whom you dare to be yourself.

Omaha never ceases to amaze me. I experienced my first snow last night. And, when I say snow, I mean snow, not just those pretty little flurries that sparkle in the street lights, but full snow, I'm talking at least 3-4 inches. Most people probably don't think that's a lot, but I sure did. It all started driving to Kristin's birthday dinner, (Shout out- Happy Birthday Kris!) and it was raining pretty hard. All of a sudden, Kristin says, "Oh my, Kristen, it's starting to flurry," I didn't believe it for one second, but sure enough, I couldn't deny the SNOW that was building up on the side of my windshield. With tears in my eyes, I continued to drive cautiously with my 3 girlfriends guiding me along the entire way, "break slow," "turn slow," "don't speed." They were my guiding (back-seat driving) angels. Once I parked, the snow was in full force. We ran, slid and hobbled our way to the restaurant through the slush. Picture this: 4 girls, 4 pairs of high heels and a lot of snow. It was a comedy show to say the least. We finally made it across the street to Pitch, this warm, amazing, cozy little pizza joint, and from there the night began. We cheer-sed, sipped wine, ate cake and laughed together as the snow fell outside. I felt as if I were in a movie. It was a magical night.

My first snow.

Dancing in the snow.
Three of a kind.
Today, I introduced Henry to the snow, and surprisingly he kind of liked it. Granted, he hated the sweater he was forced to wear, and didn't exactly enjoy having wet paws, but I still couldn't pull him away from the snow. We're adjusting.
Henry and his first experience with snow.
My first Omaha snowball.
It's cool, my dog's a model.
So, I made it through my first snow everyone. I threw a snowball, I danced in the snow with my girlfriends and I complained about being cold. I loved the snow in parts and I hated it in others. Regardless, it's going to be a long couple months, but it's going to one where I learn, grow and hopefully have great stories, great pictures and even better memories. Welcome to winter ladies and gentlemen, I hope you brought your cashmere gloves, because it could get chilly.
