It's the most wonderful time of the yearrrrr! It's time for the most fascinating people of the yearrrrr!
Wanna recap? Here are my lists for 2017, 2016, 2015 (1) and (2), and 2014 (1) and (2).
This year was tough. It's been an interesting year to say the least. Usually this post in a big tongue in cheek, but ya know what? I'm older, wiser (maybe?) and this year is dedicated to the truly interesting. Sorry Kardashians, you won't be making the list this year. Jk. There
10. Sister Jean. If you were alive during March 2018, you remember Sister Jean, the nun who prayed Loyola through the NCAA tournament. They weren't supposed to go very far based on skill, but prayer works wonders! Sister Jean is 99 years old and now she has her own merchandise, t-shirts and all kinds of gear. She loves basketball almost as much as God.
9. Roseanne Barr. Yes, she's always been known for her brash sense of humor and wit. She's been in the public eye since the early 1980's and been a loudmouth ever since. She's been known to push the envelope of jokes for a while, but it seems the public stops laughing when she takes her jokes one step too far. Getting fired from her revival-Roseanne and then going off on Twitter is only the tip of the iceberg for what made 2018 pretty interesting for Ms. Barr.
8. Brett Kavanaugh. Whether you believe Ms. Ford or not, believe whether Brett kept immaculate records of his high school years or whether he did it. Brett Kavanaugh had a year that he'll hopefully never repeat. He was put on trial in both the court of public opinion and in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee and found guilty in one and not guilty in another. His ability to recount the number of beers he had 30+ years ago became topic of conversation and needless to say, Mr. Kavanaugh's year was pretty damn interesting.
7. Chloe Kim. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, she became the youngest woman to win an Olympic snowboarding medal when she won gold in the women's snowboard halfpipe at the age of 17 years. She's sweet, she's pretty and she's a damn badass. She's only 17 which means she's got plenty of way more interesting years ahead of her.
6. John McCain. McCain was was a prisoner of war in North Vietnam for five and a half years until his release on March 14, 1973, was elected to the House of Representatives in 1982, successfully ran for U.S. Senate in 1986 and unsuccessfully ran for president in 2000 and 2008 (maybe he shouldn't have picked Sarah Palin as his running mate). He was a declared republican but constantly challenged the status quo, Donald Trump and most of his party. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2017 and unfortunately lost that battle in 2018. He was a war hero, family man and politician.
5. Tiffany Haddish. 13 years ago, Tiffany Haddish was living in her car, grinding it out in comedy clubs in LA trying to make a living. Since then she's been in tons of TV shows, starring with Queen Latifa in Girls Trip, she hosted the 2018 MTV Music Awards, SNL, has a deal with HBO, is the Groupon spokesperson and she has about 10 more movies coming out this next year. Safe to say her life is pretty damn interesting.
4. Mark Zuckerberg. Mark Zuckerberg gain notoriety in 2003 with his creation of Facebook. It unilaterally changed the way people connect. However, in 2018, Mark had to defend his company, the invasion of privacy and how the internet works to old white men who had a problem with Facebook. In July, Mark Zuckerberg lost more than $15 billion in stock wealth as investors dumped shares after the social network warned of slowing sales growth. According to Bloomberg, it was the tech company’s largest stock drop ever and was the biggest stock-market wipeout for a U.S. company ever. Pretty damn interesting if you ask me.
3. George HW Bush. In 1943, Bush was the youngest pilot in the Navy at the time. During World War II, he flew 58 combat missions for the Navy. He was vice-president and president. Served in a ton of other amazing political positions. For his 75, 80, 85 and 90th birthday he celebrated by skydiving . He was married to his wife, Barbara for 73 years. He was a great family man and man in general. He died last year and lived a very fascinating life.
2. Meghan Markle. She became a princess! In a wedding that captivated the entire world, Meghan Markle became the first American woman to marry a prince. Besides that she's a humantiarian and actress, she's a boss. She speaks her mind, takes positions on things that princess' rarely do and is using her voice for good. On top of that, her dad faked paparazzi photos, didn't come to her wedding and she has a half-sister who keeps talking to the news outlets. Her life has always been fascinating and now with a baby on the way, I think it's going to get even more fascinating.
1. The woman who brought down Larry Nassar. Thanks to over 100 woman, this sicko was sentenced to life x 100 in jail. Between Aly Raisman and the Michigan (bad-ass) Judge, its safe to say, Larry Nassar will never touch/mess with/ or ruin another young womans life. May all us girls be as strong and courageous as these young woman. Cheers to these woman.

Who would have been on your most fascinating list?
Happy 2019 fam. Can you believe we're already 8 days in to the new year? I cannot. I've been prepping this post forever and all of a sudden its 8 days in and still not posted.
I started changing up my new year resolutions years ago. They switched from resolutions to goals to intentions to words. You can read all my past goals and words here:
I love this word. I love the meaning of it, especially for my life, right now.
My comfort zone is great. I find joy in my comfort zone, because the fear of the unknown is hard for me. I don't want to be afraid to take chances or make mistakes or jump into something new. I want to embrace possibility and opportunities instead of sitting back and wondering what if.
This is my first full year being a mama. While I've never felt a more natural calling in my life, this whole thing is scary. Am I doing this right? Am I good enough? Should I send her to daycare? I'm fearful! I'm nervous of the unknown. But this year I'm chasing motherhood fearlessly.
My career is still relatively new with some new additions and potential changes. I'm afraid because it's unknown. I've always been nervous of the unknown. But ya know what, I'm running into those fears dead on because my success depends on it.
I'm starting a brand new, HUGE endeavor with one of my best friends and I'm scared as hell. Will people like it? Will it be a success? Are we just wasting our time. But its something I've been wanting to do for years and I'm finally freaking doing it! I'm proud and I'm scared and I'm excited. I'm not going to let the fear of failure hinder me anymore.
There are a lot of unknowns this year is going to bring and it's scary. But I'm not going to let the fear of change and unknowns bring me down. I'm going to be fearless. I'm going to tackle those fears and do it. I'm going to be fearless.
Happy 2019, everyone. Let's do this.
I started changing up my new year resolutions years ago. They switched from resolutions to goals to intentions to words. You can read all my past goals and words here:
This year I thought really hard about what I wanted my word to be and I was forcing ideas of what I thought it should be. When I was first thinking about it, I thought about the word intentional. And while I love that word and what it means to me, it didn't seem right. So I kind of gave up on figuring out my word because I knew it would come to me. I literally woke up the other night and had it. My word for this year?
Fearless
Mirriam Webster defines fearless as "free from fear" or "brave"
Taylor Swift defines fearless as,"To me, ‘fearless’ is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, fearless is having fears. Fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death. Fearless is falling madly in love again, even though you’ve been hurt before. […] No matter what love throws at you, you have to believe in it. You have to believe in love stories and Prince Charmings and happily ever after. That’s why I write these songs. Because I think love is fearless. This year is bringing a ton of huge changes for me. I am not good at change. It scares me. But what I've noticed in my past is when I embrace the change, the best things happen. When I went to law school. I was terrified. But I got a JD and a husband :) When I moved to Malibu for school, I made the best friends. I can't imagine the joy I would have missed out on had I not taken those chances.
My comfort zone is great. I find joy in my comfort zone, because the fear of the unknown is hard for me. I don't want to be afraid to take chances or make mistakes or jump into something new. I want to embrace possibility and opportunities instead of sitting back and wondering what if.
