A lot of people ask me why I started a podcast. How the heck would I have time to add one more thing to my life. Trust me, I got everything. I got the eye roll, the silence, the encouragement, the support, the suggestions & everything else.
About 6 months ago, right about the time Quinn was born, I was at a point in my life where I knew I wanted to do something. I wanted an outlet to talk about this new season of life I was in. I wanted something that made me jump out of bed in the morning excited. I wanted a challenge, something to embrace because I hoped to gain something from it.
Yes, I love my family, my work and my blog, and honestly, this isn't about any of those. I was looking for something else, something to challenge me, something different. I want Quinn to grow up one day and see that her mama did something to better herself. I want Quinn to see that not only did I work really hard, but I had fun doing it. I want her to be proud of me and I really hope she is.
One day, my best friends and I were in a group text chatting about things when a podcast came up. We were joking because I had someone comment on my insta-stories saying I had a voice for radio. Ha, I was laughing because it was on insta-stories and isn't the joke about radio that you don't have to be pretty? It was funny, but it also got me thinking! Maybe I should start a podcast, maybe this could be my new outlet.
Whitney and I started talking about it and we both realized we wanted to do this and so ya know what? We did. 6 months of planning and we are here. We did it! We started a podcast. I'm calling it my passion project, because that's exactly what it is. It's something that lights a little fire in me. I love chatting with our guests, planning content, and finding great guests! The whole process is so much work, but it is so rewarding.
This Girl Life Podcast is hosted by me (obvs) and my best friend Whitney Kleiner. We're best friends who understand the power of great friendships, good conversations and the realness of creating your best life.

The most beautiful discovery that true friends can
make is that they can grow separately without growing apart.
I think this is something Kate and I have had to figure out how to do. We don't live in the same city anymore, we're going to completely different law schools, but even through all that, it doesn't change our friendship. It's one that regardless of of location, changes in our lives, new schools, we will still be friends. She's one for the record books - she's a friend that I know will be around forever. I'm so blessed to have her.
My reason for not blogging all weekend - my best was in town :)
Go after your dreams Lauren, I'm so proud of you. Go get 'em.
After the perfect birthday weekend, it's time to get back to the countdown.
we made a pact a long time ago;
boys, college, nursing school, law school, ups&downs, fights, breakups and all the in-betweens-
it doesn't matter.... we're soul-mates.
Day 4: Write about what you imagine paradise to look like.
Have you ever been to Lake Tahoe in the summer? Well, if you you haven't, I highly suggest it as a place to add to your destinations wish list.
To me, paradise would be located in Lake Tahoe, on the south shore, soaking up the sun, while looking at the snow-kissed mountains. Paradise would be overflowing. Overflowing with my family and friends, overflowing with sunshine, outside barbecues, cocktails, great music blasting on the beach, lots of laughing, sports on the beach, water sports in the ice cold lake and everyone just being together. It would be overflowing. It would bring people from all over back together. It would join old roommates, loved ones, friends from the past, friends from junior high, high school and college. It would bring family from all over to one place.
There would be a lot of picture taking and playlist making. Of course be great food would be a must, fish from the Chart House, lots of calamari from The Beacon, and of course Rum Runners galore. Jet-skiing, para-sailing and boating would be a daily activity followed by sand volleyball on the beach, while the guys smoke cigars on the deck.
One thing that completes summers in Lake Tahoe are the books we read. Every summer seems to have a new theme, Harry Potter, Twilight, Chelsea Handler, whatever we chose adds another theme to our summer get-a-away. The one thing about 'paradise' that I like to focus on isn't the activities (though they're great) but it's the people. It's everyone being in one place and enjoying each others company. The cool thing about paradise is that it happens every summer, and I can't wait for this year, it's going to be one for the record books.
